VITT (Vacuum Insulated Transfer Tube) Installation

How It Works

Vacuum Insulated Transfer Tubes (VITT) are specialized piping systems designed to transport cryogenic liquids—such as liquid nitrogen, oxygen, argon, or LNG—while minimizing heat ingress. These double-walled tubes have an inner pipe for the cryogenic flow and an outer pipe that creates a vacuum jacket with multi-layer insulation in between. During installation, VITTs are precisely aligned, welded or joined with vacuum-jacketed couplings, and tested to ensure vacuum integrity and thermal efficiency. This setup allows safe, low-loss cryogenic transfer over long distances.

Key Features

  • Exceptional Thermal Performance – Reduces heat transfer and product boil-off.
  • Vacuum Jacketed Design – Ensures superior insulation and efficiency.
  • Leak-Free Connections – Uses welded or bayonet-style vacuum-insulated joints.
  • Low Maintenance – Long service life with minimal thermal losses or degradation.
  • Modular & Customizable – Designed to fit complex plant layouts and varying flow needs.
  • Safety Assured – Reduces ice build-up and surface condensation, ensuring safer environments.

Common Use

  • Medical & Healthcare – For delivering medical-grade oxygen and nitrogen.
  • Semiconductor & Electronics – For high-purity cryogen delivery.
  • Food & Beverage – In cryogenic freezing, cooling, and carbonation systems.
  • Research & Labs – For liquid helium or nitrogen supply in sensitive environments.
  • LNG Facilities – For fuel distribution and regasification systems.

Construction Material

  • Inner Tube: Made from high-grade stainless steel (SS304/SS316) for cryogenic compatibility and corrosion resistance.
  • Outer Jacket: Typically stainless steel or carbon steel, vacuum-sealed to house insulation.
  • Insulation Layer: Multi-layer insulation (MLI) within the vacuum space, providing superior thermal resistance.
  • Connections: Precision-engineered vacuum-insulated bayonet or welded joints for leak-proof performance.
