Road Safety Audit (RSA), Vehicle Safety Audit (VSA) & Traffic Management Plan Preparation

Road Safety Audit (RSA)

A Road Safety Audit (RSA) is a formal safety assessment conducted on a road or intersection to identify potential hazards and improve safety for all road users. RSAs can be performed on existing roads or during the planning, design, or construction phases of new infrastructure.

Purpose of an RSA

  • Assess risk factors contributing to accidents.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in road design and signage.
  • Recommend safety enhancements for all road users, including pedestrians and cyclists.
  • Reduce accidents and injuries by addressing potential hazards proactively.

Vehicle Safety Audit (VSA)

A Vehicle Safety Audit (VSA) is a structured evaluation of a vehicle’s safety features and performance. It ensures the vehicle meets safety standards and minimizes risks for occupants in the event of a collision.

Key Aspects of a Vehicle Safety Audit

  • Inspection of safety features such as airbags, seatbelts, braking systems, and stability controls.
  • Testing methodologies including crash simulations and component analysis.
  • Compliance checks against industry safety regulations.
  • Recommendations for vehicle design improvements to enhance occupant protection.

Traffic Management Plan Preparation

A Traffic Management Plan (TMP) outlines strategies for safely managing the movement of vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists in areas affected by construction, events, or roadwork.

Components of a Traffic Management Plan

  • Traffic analysis to assess potential congestion and safety concerns.
  • Traffic control measures such as detours, temporary signals, and lane closures.
  • Signage and road markings to provide clear navigation instructions.
  • Public communication strategies to inform road users about changes.
  • Monitoring and enforcement to ensure compliance with traffic controls.
